My Summer With The Kids Bucket List

Happy first day of SUMMER!!

I love the summer, I really do.  It is something about the weather, the food, the lazy feel, not to mention parades and fireworks…I just love it.  Now-a-days, summer is really no different than the rest of the year (a moms life is kinda like groundhog day…isn’t it?)  But I saw this idea for a summer bucket list and I instantly knew I had to make one for my family this summer.  So from today, we have 68 days until B starts his new school. I love the idea of having a jar (via pinterest above) with all the ideas in it and letting him pick one out each day.  Here are a few of the things I want to do:

  1. Teach B to swim
  2. Camp in the backyard
  3. Paint with colored bubbles
  4. Neighborhood scavenger hunt
  5. Make Cookies and deliver them
  6. Visit Great Grama
  7. Go to the beach
  8. Go to the zoo
  9. Play mini golf
  10. Find a new playground
  11. Make popsicles
  12. Make a peanut butter bird feeder
  13. Make a pom pom shooter
  14. Water balloons
  15. Library
  16. Visit the Fire Station
  17. Make puppets and a puppet theater
  18. Go to the ‘new’ local baseball team game
  19. Have a pj and movie day
  20. Make Lemonade
  21. Make bread
  22. Sidewalk chalk at the Neighborhood Square
  23. Make fruit pops with cookie cutters
  24. Take pictures in a photo booth
  25. Make a home-made Angry Birds with boxes
  26. Have a make-your-own sundae playdate
  27. Visit the EarthQuake Exhibit at the Science Museum
  28. Build a sand castle
  29. Do a toy purge and donate
  30. Farmer’s Market

And not to leave a few personal summer bucket list items of my own

  1. Return to a morning yoga ritual
  2. Read at least 1 book for pleasure
  3. Launch a new business…

What else would you add to our summer bucket list??  Give me your ideas in the comments below and stay tuned for updates on all our summer escapades!

Beryl Young - I love this! I’ve been working on a bucket list of our very own this summer too. But for me and my toddler – it’s been all on me to come up with and implement our activities so no jar for us this year. But I totally plan to use the jar idea next summer! One fun bucket list idea I just posted about was having a summer scavenger hunt. This might be one to add to your own list! http://www.berylaynyoung.com/2012/06/20/summer-fun-for-the-whole-family-summer-bucket-list-idea/
