Simple Parenting and Play Planner- Guest Post

We all know I love a plan!  So, when my friend and Raising Playful Tots founder, Melitsa Avila told me about her new Parenting and Play Planner, I was so excited!

I’m thrilled to be a stop on Melitsa Blog Tour to introduce the world to her planning techniques for kids and families.  If you are busy mama (aren’t we all?) or if you need to plan out some special kid and family time to also allow time for yourself, Melitsa Planner is going to be a huge help!  I’ll let Melitsa take over and read to the bottom of this post for your chance to win a copy of your own!

Simple Parenting and Play Planner banner 300x.jpgI’m Melitsa from Raising Playful Tots and I have an easy way to get those dreams and ideas about family out of your head and rocking and rolling for YOUR family.

Get it down on paper!

I want you to take a moment to list the most important things you want to do with your family and then write a list of what you actually do regularly… I can wait while you go do that.

There’s usually a mismatch right? We all have hopes, dreams, ideas, values and activities that in those quiet moments we store up on that imaginary to do list.

That first list, the good family plan list, is harder to write right now because our family changes. There will be things we want to do in the future, like trips to Disney. The other list continues to grow…well there’s always dishes to do.

We spend much of our time doing things we don’t want to do at home mostly because we’ve not got a clear idea of what we DO want to do with our family. As planners and to-do listers we know that writing these down is the first step to getting these on our action lists.

Imagine filling our time doing more of those family activities we want to do.

It’s easier to clean the house, sort the kid’s drawers, plan the holiday, because there’s an immediate pay off at the end.

Family is a tricky area for planning. It’s often skipped because we don’t see the immediate payoffs. But later on you might look back, wonder, wish and regret only because there wasn’t a space and a place to build out the family haven you want.

The Simple Parenting and Simple Play Planner is a new workbook, planner and calendar that helps you plan your activities together as a family for now and your future. It’s not just about the family there’s space for us to continue being us (another area that gets squeezed if we’re not careful.)

Have a look inside!

I would love to get out there and do more hikes as a family. We all mellow out and get happy being outdoors and in the sunshine. More outdoor time!

I would love to do more outdoor activities as a family. We’ve had a long winter cooped up and we can’t wait to play outside!

I want to explore more as a family. We have a couple of quick, local go-to hikes we do several times a year, and they’re great, but I want check out places we haven’t been before or haven’t been as a family. As the kids’ abilities change, we can do more, but hikes will be longer or a bit (or much) further away, so we’ll need to plan to do that.

I’m thinking that I’m going to be transitioning to being a stay at home. I want to stay organized and keep my kids engaged without the TV! I love outdoor activities and want to build in experiences that they will remember!

The thing I’d like to do more of with my family is actually to have time with just the four (almost 5) of us!
We seem to have so many commitments and events and it’s so nice to have a weekend at home once in a while or a day just for ourselves! :) Perhaps I need to pencil a few in on the calendar!

Visit Disneyland in Orlando so we can meet my cousin’s new baby (due next month!)!

My husband and I created a time to sit down and create our camping and family play (anything away from home) time for the summer. This NEVER happens-we always wing it. It usually ends up being fun though not without it’s own level of stress and at times not getting to do our first choice because of not planning far enough in advance.
